#OnMonday: Living the Dream (Dream pt. 1)

SegunOnMonday: Living the Dream (Dream pt. 1)

Are you familiar with the popular saying that if your dream doesn’t scare you, it is not big enough? If you’re, good! If you’re not, you’ve not missed much!!

No matter the size of your dream, there will always be a drift, slight or huge between the dream and realisation. Before you ask me why, forces like: your potential, environment, background, emerging opportunities/challenges will always make the difference.

If success date is an appointment you can put on diary, everyone will do nothing except stay glued to the calendar for the date to come.

Your dream will almost certainly be the cornerstone of your success but be careful not to throw it out of the window in the face of unplanned forces.

I will try to translate this adage in my native:
“Planning to build an edifice like none ever seen is a tip of vanity”
If can’t manage your dream when you’re small, you will not do better when you’re big.

If your dream is to impact positively on people’s lives, don’t wait till you have millions, accommodate that dream in your day to day.

That is what I call living the dream!!!

OnMonday: Challenging the Obstacle

The story of the Bull
Have you witnessed a bull fight before?…I will take that as a ‘Yes’

When a Bull is challenging an adversary, it doesn’t just go on and on in attacking….what does it do?

A bull attacks, withdraws, and charge again!
The second charge is always an improvement on the first; the third stronger than the second……and it goes on and on until it is defeated or it triumphs!

In the end, even the conquered bull is a hero and that makes it better than you….that challenges once and withdraw even with your competence and potentials.

There’s half a chance from the go that you can surmount a challenge and that’s why you took it on in the first instance.

Know that you will lose more if you stop now!!!
Think of time spent, sapping energy, option forgone already and you will see reasons to demand more from yourself.

SegunOnMonday Dancing Opportunities

I was in this investment office lastweek and before I could discuss my reason for been there, I saw this quote on the wall:

“Opportunity dances with only those it meets on the dance floor”

Need not say much but it is best to put yourself in vantage position awaiting the right chance.

This is a step beyond mere hope and it always put you in good stead when presented with chance.

The opportunities will come! They always do but how ready are you to snap them up?

Be positive and have a great week!

Congrats to my Friends at University of Westminster that just finished their masters program. Thumbs up mates!

#OnMonday: Impossible is Temporal

SegunOnMonday: Impossible is temporary

Impossible will continue to be in existence to the end of time,
It is a word used for a yet to be surmounted challenge not a bar to take on a task or challenge.

Before the first craft landed in space – going there was deemed impossible.

100 years ago, talking to another person 1000 miles through the air was impossible.

“Never think there is anything impossible for the soul. It is the greatest heresy to think so. If there is sin, this is the only sin; to say that you are weak, or others are weak.”

Swami Vivekananda

The word impossible is therefore just a public declaration that you will be the first to conquer the challenge.
If you believe in yourself why follow weak minds who did not even try before joining the chorus of impossibility.

Think about it!

Good morning

#OnMonday: Longterm Success

SegunOnMonday:

Sometimes some people doubt their very essence when fail to set mind to task on what needs to be achieved.
In the sight of this you lose ample resources and you waste opportunities that come begging in the name of not knowing what to do.

You find your idleness seized by matters seemingly less productive and that will cumulatively breed frustration.

Though many times all you can do is try, but it is worthy if you have your sight on the ultimate objective. This should not deter you even when unwanted pebbles on the way try to dislodge you.

Charles Noble said:

“You must have long term goals to keep you from being frustrated by short term failures”

My friend, remember that the bottom is always crowded ’cause it is easy to get there.
Aim for the top. There’s plenty of room there and there are so few at the top it is almost lonely there.

Moving up!

OnMonday: Hesitation

SegunOnMonday: Hesitation

Many times we come at crossroads to make decisions, that characterize the person we are or try to become. These decisions are consequentially positive or negative on many occasions varying on the expectation of the initiator or the person at the receiving end.

But on one side is art of hesitation, not part of the decision but influences the result tremendously.

Hesitation does more harm than good. When a matters needs determination, consider the probable outcome of your reaction to it, look at alternative and see if the result is acceptable.

To seek a counsel is nothing to be ashamed of not to seek one when you could is foolhardy.

Above all, whatever you’ve got to do, do it quick.

Thomas Huxley believes the same too when he said:
“Make up your mind to act decidedly and take the consequences. No good is ever done in this world by hesitation”.

Good morning, All the best!

#OnMonday: Enthusiasm

SegunOnMonday: Enthusiasm
Some people say been enthusiastic is a reserve feature for few, I disagree. Enthusiasm is a feature that is inherent in all of us.

Try to remember the feeling of trying a new thing you’ve always craved for.

But I think the chief of the problem is, we don’t connect the little deeds we do, with the environment and the fact that there’s is always a slice of luck in play too.

If you believe your little can make a change, then you’ve caused the change half way.

Steve Maraboli is his book: Life, the Truth and Being Free said:

“Protect your enthusiasm from the negativity and fear of others. Never decide to do nothing just because you can only do little. Do what you can. You would be surprised at what “little” acts have done for our world.”

Be positive

Good morning

SegunOnMonday: Legacy

SegunOnMonday:

It is not your choice to make or be part of history…..your being has commenced the process. The only thing you have influence over is how it is written.

It is your choice to make it worth remembering or otherwise. You will always be an example to others good or otherwise.

Otherwise I hear you ask? Ok!
” a boy who spends all his youth playing truancy, when he grows up he becomes a wretch of a life. A friend of his who kept working hard while he massages his roguery will use him as an example while raising his kids like: ‘do you want to spend the rest of your life living like A? Because he started the way you’re doing now!”

Be positive and think of after today while setting to task today and above all…..
“Carve your name on hearts, not tombstones. A legacy is etched into the minds of others and the stories they share about you.”
― Shannon L. Alder

Age

Happy Birthday to Me

How many days I have spent,
I will need a calculator
sometimes the years,
I blink before I announce.

Time have passed
people I have met
challenges I’ve faced
strides I’ve taken

I look into the horizon
thank God for this far
He’s brought me
’cause who really am I?
I wish my self a larger coast
surmountable challenges
and above all,
inner peace.
